This is such an easy, delicious, and healthy recipe that can be enjoyed warm or cold. I make a huge batch and eat it for lunch for a few days. I adapted this recipe from from my new Yum & Yummer cookbook (Beets & Sweets Buddha Bowls). Seriously, this is an amazing book. The best part? Each and every delicious recipe has a picture (so you know what you’re making), and a 1-minute online video. (Note: Bad Moms Canada is not paid to promote this book…it’s just one of my fav

Boozy Fudge Recipe
Fellow Mamas – the holidays are upon us. Which can mean stress, with the countless events to attend, gifts to wrap, entertaining, and maybe even some travel. How about this year, we do things a little differently? Let’s not allow the stress take over. Deep breath. Here is a secret weapon to help make things a little more, um, tolerable This is a recipe just for Mama (I mean, you could share with other adults, but why?!). Also, do no eat and drive! This fudge packs a serious b

Little Mermaid
Parenting is full of surprises. I feel like I’m always learning something new. Like the other day, I learned a hot tip for potty training: line the bottom of those little potties with toilet paper and water for the inevitable number 2 that will land in there and not want to wash away easily, despite the jet engine force of the water that you will spray into it. If only I had known this prior to my futile attempt… Let’s rewind a little here. My daughter C has recently disc

Pancakes, Anyone?
This past weekend, I spent most of it sick with a brutal head cold, chills, and sinus congestion. ‘Tis the season – and it happens to me every year around this time, without fail. On the flip side, my daughter C did use the potty all weekend! We may almost be finished with pull-ups. Woot woot! My hubby recently got me a great book to celebrate some big changes in our lives. This actually may be my most favourite thing he’s ever given to me. The book is: The Subtle Art o

Bad Moms Resume
I’ve been thinking about the idea of a Bad Mom Resumé for a while now; since I recently updated my work resumé, the timing was perfect! Enjoy this fun little visual of some of the things that any Bad Mom could include. xo Leigh #BadMomLeigh #momming #parentinghumor #parentingwin #childbirth #newborn #postpartum #humor #motherhood

Things don't always go as planned
I’m not a big advocate of the “birth plan”. I mean, how can you possibly plan something that you ultimately have no control over? Planning or envisioning certain details makes sense to me, like what you’re okay with, and how you’ll advocate for yourself; other than that, you kind of have to go with the flow. When I was pregnant with my daughter C, I remember being completely and utterly terrified of labour and delivery. Abnormally afraid. To me, it was one of the scaries

Growing up
It’s happening. Or maybe it’s already happened, and I’m just abruptly noticing. My baby girl is turning 3 soon. Three!!! How did that even happen? I get emotional just thinking about it. It seems like only yesterday she was a helpless little blob, needing momma for nearly everything. And now, well, she likes to do mostly everything by herself. Everyone tells you that “time will fly”, which is partly true…other times, it will dragggggg on and you will have days where yo

Pregnancy Loss
Sadly, it seems like most women I know have had a pregnancy loss – whether early miscarriage, late miscarriage, or a loss at full-term. It seems to be something that happens far too often these days. Or maybe we’re just talking about it more. Before I had my daughter C, I wasn’t sure about wanting children…so when I got pregnant on the first attempt, I was in complete shock. After about 6 weeks, just when I was getting comfortable with the idea of being pregnant, I had a m

Find your people
I love making new “mom friends” – aka other moms with kids around the same age as yours, that you just click with and can totally be yourself around. Calling it “mom friends” sounds a bit funny, I realize. I have one friend who laughs at me every time I use this phrase. When my daughter C was young, I used this term a lot to refer to new friends that I had met. Nowadays, it’s usually just called a “friend”. I digress. I’ve written a few other blog posts related to normal

A mom's quality time...
Yes, going grocery shopping alone makes me THIS excited! You wanna know what Moms fantasize about? Now, now – before your mind goes to the gutter, let’s keep this G rated, people! In addition to being whisked away on vacation, being taken out to dinner, date night, uninterrupted bubble baths and long showers, hot coffee, getting a fantastic blowout, and sleeping in, we also fantasize about grocery shopping. Alone. Or any kind of shopping, really. At least that’s what I fantas
