Online shopping for the win!

I’ll admit it. I love online shopping. It’s something I do for almost everything: clothes, beauty products, cookbooks, and some specialty/hard to find items that aren’t available where I live. The options are endless, and many companies offer free shipping and free returns. I can’t remember the last time I went shopping in a store/mall. I much prefer seeing all the options online and avoiding the crowds.

What I didn’t think of until recently was ordering baby supplies online. It’s pure genius!

After my daughter was born and I was feeling human enough to leave the house, I remember making countless trips to various local stores for the essentials, like diapers and wipes. Part of it was just to have a little outing in the day, and also because you go through an unbelievable amount of diapers and wipes really quickly. But why was I making it so difficult on myself? Transitioning to having a baby is hard enough, never mind trying to remember what essentials you’ve run out of on any particular day.

With baby #2 arriving soon, I’ve started nesting and thinking of all the things I can do now to prepare (aka, to make the transition to 2 kiddos easier on myself). I recently ordered a few essentials online – newborn and size 1 diapers, wipes, and some other things that I wanted to have on hand for baby’s arrival. I honestly don’t know why I haven’t done this before! Who wants to haul ass to Wal-Mart for last-minute necessities with a new baby and a toddler in tow? Not this Mama! Hard pass on that one.

I placed my order last week, and 2-3 days later all of my items had arrived right to my front porch. It was like Christmas! Several companies offer subscription services to ensure that you never run out of the essentials, and you can even save money at the same time. While I haven’t yet committed to this level of being organized, I’ll consider it for the future.

While it may seem like ordering a few baby supplies is a small thing, I assure you it’s pretty great. I’m feeling relieved and organized, and actually a little silly that I didn’t do this with baby #1. So that’s my advice of the week for all Moms. Hit those ‘add to cart’ buttons and wait for your treasures to arrive.
